Creating and managing drive parameter projects




A drive parameter project is a file that contains all the drive parameters and settings for a specific drive or application. You can create, open, save, and manage drive parameter projects with DriveWizard Industrial.


To create a new drive parameter project, you need to follow these steps:



  • Select File > New Project from DriveWizard Industrial menu.



  • Select the drive model and size from the drop-down list.



  • Enter the project name, user name, and project description in the text boxes.



  • Click OK to create the project.



To open an existing drive parameter project, you need to follow these steps:



  • Select File > Open Project from DriveWizard Industrial menu.



  • Browse to the folder where the project file is located and select it.



  • Click Open to open the project.



To save a drive parameter project, you need to follow these steps:



  • Select File > Save Project or Save Project As from DriveWizard Industrial menu.



  • Browse to the folder where you want to save the project file and enter a file name.

  • Select Parameter Overview from the View menu or click on the Parameter Overview tab at the bottom of DriveWizard Industrial window.



  • You will see a list of all the drive parameters organized into categorized groups such as Basic Settings, Motor Settings, Control Settings, etc.



  • You can expand or collapse each group by clicking on the plus or minus sign next to it.



  • You can use the search box at the top of Parameter Overview panel to find a specific parameter by name or number.



To modify drive parameters, you need to follow these steps:



  • Select a drive parameter project from the Project Manager panel.



  • Select Parameter Overview from the View menu or click on the Parameter Overview tab at the bottom of DriveWizard Industrial window.



  • Double-click on the parameter you want to modify or right-click on it and select Modify Parameter from the pop-up menu.



  • A dialog box will appear where you can enter a new value for the parameter or select one from a drop-down list if available.



  • Click OK to confirm your change or Cancel to discard it.



Comparing and transferring parameters between software and drive




You can compare and transfer parameters between DriveWizard Industrial software and Yaskawa drive. This allows you to upload parameters from the drive to the software or download parameters from the software to the drive. You can also compare parameters between software and drive settings and see which ones are different or modified.


To compare parameters between software and drive settings, you need to follow these steps:



  • Select a drive parameter project from the Project Manager panel.



  • Select Compare Parameters from the Tools menu or click on the Compare Parameters button on the toolbar.



  • A dialog box will appear where you can select the communication option and the drive address.



  • Click OK to start the comparison or Cancel to abort it.



  • DriveWizard Industrial will read the parameters from the drive and compare them with the software settings.



  • You will see a list of all the parameters that are different or modified between software and drive settings. The parameters that are different will be highlighted in yellow and the parameters that are modified will be highlighted in green.



  • You can use the buttons at the bottom of the dialog box to print, export, or email the comparison report.



To transfer parameters between software and drive settings, you need to follow these steps:



  • Select a drive parameter project from the Project Manager panel.



  • Select Transfer Parameters from the Tools menu or click on the Transfer Parameters button on the toolbar.



  • A dialog box will appear where you can select the communication option, the drive address, and the transfer direction. You can choose to upload parameters from the drive to the software or download parameters from the software to the drive.



  • Click OK to start the transfer or Cancel to abort it.



  • DriveWizard Industrial will read or write the parameters from or to the drive according to your selection.



  • You will see a progress bar and a status message indicating the transfer process.



  • When the transfer is completed, you will see a confirmation message and a summary of the transfer results.



  • You can use the buttons at the bottom of the dialog box to print, export, or email the transfer report.



Using real-time monitor and trend-recorder functions




You can use DriveWizard Industrial to monitor and record data from your Yaskawa drive in real time. This can help you troubleshoot and optimize your drive performance. DriveWizard Industrial has two functions for this purpose: real-time monitor and trend-recorder.


The real-time monitor function allows you to view data from your drive on a graphical panel with four channels. You can select which data items you want to monitor, such as output frequency, output current, output voltage, etc. You can also adjust the scaling and color of each channel. The real-time monitor function updates data every 100 milliseconds.


The trend-recorder function allows you to record data from your drive on a graphical panel with six channels. You can select which data items you want to record, such as output frequency, output current, output voltage, etc. You can also adjust the scaling and color of each channel. The trend-recorder function records data every 10 milliseconds. You can set the recording time from 1 second to 60 minutes. You can also play back, pause, stop, and trigger recorded data. You can save recorded data as a CSV file for further analysis.


To use the real-time monitor function, you need to follow these steps:



  • Select Real-Time Monitor from the View menu or click on the Real-Time Monitor button on the toolbar.



  • A panel will appear where you can select the communication option and the drive address.



  • Click OK to start the real-time monitor or Cancel to abort it.



  • You will see a graphical panel with four channels showing data from your drive.



  • You can right-click on each channel to select the data item, scaling, and color.



  • You can also use the buttons at the bottom of the panel to zoom in, zoom out, auto scale, or reset the display.
