How to use Steinberg Nuendo 3.2 for professional audio production

The Control Room section

The Control Room section is a new feature in Nuendo 3.2 that provides up to four separate Studio outputs, extra Mix, Headphone, and Control Room busses, as well as configurable Input Returns and user-definable Monitor Setups. The Control Room section allows you to monitor and control different aspects of your audio project without affecting the main mix.

To access the Control Room section, click on the Control Room button in the toolbar or press F4. You will see a window with four tabs: Main Mix, Studio 1-4, External Inputs, and Monitor Setups. You can switch between these tabs by clicking on them or using the arrow keys.

Main Mix

The Main Mix tab shows you the main output of your project, which is usually routed to your speakers or headphones. You can adjust the volume, mute, solo, dim, or listen (L) buttons to control how you hear the main mix. You can also select a different output device from the drop-down menu if you have more than one connected to your computer.

Studio 1-4

The Studio 1-4 tabs show you the four Studio outputs that you can use to send different mixes to different destinations, such as headphones for musicians or speakers for clients. Each Studio output has its own volume, mute, solo, dim, listen (L), and talkback (T) buttons. You can also select a different output device from the drop-down menu for each Studio output.

To send a signal to a Studio output, you need to use the Studio Send on each audio, group, effects return, or VSTi channel that you want to include in the mix. The Studio Send is located below the regular Send section on each channel. You can activate or deactivate it by clicking on its button. You can also adjust its level by dragging its slider or typing a value in its field.

External Inputs

The External Inputs tab shows you up to six external playback inputs that you can use to monitor sources outside of Nuendo 3.2, such as DAT, tape, CD, etc. Each external input has its own volume, mute, solo, dim, listen (L), and talkback (T) buttons. You can also select a different input device from the drop-down menu for each external input.

To route an external input to any studio, track, headphone, or control room bus, you need to use the Input Return on each bus that you want to receive the signal. The Input Return is located below the regular Return section on each bus. You can activate or deactivate it by clicking on its button. You can also adjust its level by dragging its slider or typing a value in its field.

Monitor Setups

The Monitor Setups tab shows you up to four user-definable Monitor Setups that you can use to switch between different monitoring configurations quickly and easily. Each Monitor Setup has its own name and icon that you can customize by clicking on them. You can also assign a keyboard shortcut to each Monitor Setup by right-clicking on it and selecting Assign Key Command.

To create a Monitor Setup, you need to select which busses and inputs you want to include in it by clicking on their buttons in the Main Mix tab. The selected buttons will turn blue and will 04f6b60f66
